Well, it all started with me flipping thru the mail and making piles...bills, my stuff (Scott does the bills!) and junk mail, of course. Well, I ran across this cool looking postcard...from a larger local community church...I was about to add it to the junk pile, since we have our own church and will not be changing....and they were advertising a FREE HELICOPTER EASTER EGG DROP! I was like "We're goin'!" It sounded so cool and I have never seen or even heard of anything like that before. Plans were set in place. Grandma and Grandpa joined us. It said, COME EARLY for entertainment...we did...it was a sunny, windy morning...the entertainment was a pretty funny and good magician doing a show for the kids. When it was 'time' they told everyone to wait for their age group to be called and that the helicopter was making 4 drops of THOUSANDS of eggs!!!! Well, let's just say everyone and their brother, sister, mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and neighbors were there and the PANDEMONIUM began....people just pushed along, it was a literal stampede. I had to hold the girls right next to me and I literally was picking up half of the plastic egg, cracked for them to have something to put in their special bag. Don't even ask about Scott who took Ryan to a separate area for the youngest age group.....Ryan had the same thing happen and did not get ONE egg. We left totally disgusted by how PARENTS can act to greedy and crazy all in the name of measly plastic eggs. People were asked to take no more than 10 eggs per person and we saw kids leaving with huge baskets or bags full of eggs. PEOPLE, get a grip, it's for the kids....let's have fun. We will never go back to that event. We did manage to have some fun as you will see in the pics below.
The Easter Bunny made an appearance
Here is Ryan, Daddy and Amanda looking up at the stage for the fun magic show
The magician was funny and good and had a lot of audience participation. We enjoyed this part.
Here we are standing, waiting for the helicopter
The girls are ready with their bags, that were handed out and we were told to use. They wanted to see something, anything, so up on the shoulders they went.
Did I mention it was WINDY?!
Ryan and Grandma Diamond
There is the helicopter off in the distance. We were all the way in the back of the crowd.
I snuck up and zoomed in for a shot of the EGG DROP...this was so exciting to see! and you know the rest of the story. Oh, one last thing...after making it to the car (did I mention we go their early?!? haha!) we were going to be the last ones out of the parking lot of this huge sports plex, which only has one entrance/exit. We sat in the car for an hour waiting to get out of the parking lot. Did I mention we will not be going to this event ever again (haha?!) No, really!
On to the next Easter event. Uncle Jim had the Steele family get-together at his house in Naperville. He was fresh back from Dubai and Troy and Adrianne and their little ones were in from Texas. Here is their newborn Tess, with Gigi. She is adorable!
Uncle Scott w/Tessa & then Ryan & Walker look at each other & their shadows while everyone stands around watching THEM!
An even better one w/Scott and Tessa
Ryan figures out what is going on and decides to investigate what Daddy is up to
Back home and decorating Easter eggs on Easter Eve...nothin' like waiting for the last minute.
The final masterpieces
The girls loved decorating and mixing colors
Here are some pics of the individual baskets.
Looks like the Easter Bunny came after all!
